The Florida Tuskers continued their dominance of the United Football League with a decisive 34-7 victory over the California Redwoods tonight before a crowd of 12,021 at the Florida Citrus Bowl. The Tuskers moved to 3-0 on the season, while the Redwoods fell to 1-2. A complete box score can be obtained here.

In the California Redwoods home opener tonight at AT&T Park, running back Cory Ross rushed for 121 yards and a touchdown, and wide receiver Doug Gabriel had 6 receptions for 70 yards, propelling the Redwoods to a 24-7 win over the New York Sentinels.

So the first week is in the books.
I am underwhelmed at what I saw.
I was flipping back and forth between NCAA and UFL games and I thought the level of competition was better in the NCAA.
If I understand the UFL correctly, these are men who played college ball, and were drafted by or played in the pros. It didn’t look like it.
And what’s with this “no blitzing up the middle” rule? Why don’t you just add a “3 hippopotamus count” instead?
