Timmmber: Locos flatten Redwoods 30-17
Sam Boyd Stadium - Over 14,000 fans came to the first game in United Football League history.
What they saw was J.P. Losman throw two touchdowns passes and Dede Dorsey scoring twice to help the Las Vegas
Locomotives win 30-17 over the California Redwoods.
Although the Locos won the game, the Redwoods scored the UFL’s first touchdown.
Redwoods Quarterback Shane Boyd scored on a four-yard run with 11:03 left in the second quarter. The Redwoods then increased their lead to 14-3 on Cory Ross’ four-yard run with 8:45 remaining in the second quarter.
Unfortunately, the Locomotives gained momentum, scoring their first touchdown on Losman’s scoring pass to Dorsey that cut the lead to 14-10. Losman’s TD pass to Bergen and Gano’s 39-yard field goal put the Locomotives ahead 20-14.
The Redwoods made it a one-score game with Douglass’ 26-yard field goal with 52 seconds remaining in the third quarter, but the Locomotives answered with a 53-yard Gano field goal and Dorsey’s nine-yard TD run to ice the game.
